Anesthesia Safety InformationAnesthesia at our hospital is taken very seriously. The procedure is performed much like human anesthesia. We will place an IV catheter in one of your cat's front legs. IV fluids will be given to maintain normal blood pressure. Pre-anesthetic medications are given to reduce the amount of anesthesia needed and to relax your cat. After your cat is anesthetized, an endotracheal tube is placed in the cat's trachea to provide oxygen, anesthesia, and for safe respiration. We continuously monitor your cat while it is under anesthesia. Heart rate, blood oxygen level, carbon dioxide level, temperature, blood pressure, and ecg are all closely watched. Body temperature is maintained under anesthesia with a warm water recirculating heating pad which provides safe heat and will not burn. During recovery your cat is moved to an incubator for further monitoring and warmth. When fully recovered, your cat will be in a comfortable area with fluffy towels, it's favorite food and bottled water. Enjoy peace of mind that your cat is well cared for while here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
