Egg Product Can Reduce Allergens from Cats

Bryan Schmidt • Feb 22, 2020

Cat lovers will go through a lot for their feline friends. Many owners are forced to deal with troublesome sneezing, a stuffy nose and other allergy symptoms caused by their kitty. Even though people love their kitties nobody likes dealing with allergies. For most people however, it seems like there just isn’t much you can do about it… but that might not be the case. In March of 2019 Purina conducted a study published in the journal Immunity, Inflammation, and Disease where they fed 105 cats of varying breeds a diet with egg products that contained anti-Fel d1 IgY, an antibody that helps reduce the Fel d1 allergen in cats’ coats. The results of the study showed a significant reduction of the allergen in the cats’ coats which can mean significant reduction in the owner’s allergy symptoms.
